Apple & Strawberry Crisp Squares

Prep time: 15 minutes
Baking time: 42 minutes

Makes 9 squares

Crisp

  • 1 × 240 g pouch of “Gruo pas plate” Apple & Strawberry
  • ½ cup all-purpose or whole wheat flour
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tbsp butter or margarine, at room temperature

Apple & Strawberry Filling

  • 1 medium apple, peeled and diced
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, chopped
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8 × 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper (skip this step if using a silicone pan).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the GRUO PAS PLATE oatmeal, all-purpose or whole wheat flour, brown sugar, applesauce, and butter or margarine. Mix until the mixture is moist and holds together when pressed.
  3. Firmly press about two-thirds of the mixture into the bottom of the pan. Spread evenly using the back of a fork.
  4. In another bowl, combine the diced apple, strawberries, maple syrup, cornstarch, and lemon juice.
  5. Spread the apple and strawberry filling evenly over the base.
  6. Crumble the remaining mixture over the top without pressing it down.
  7. Bake for 42 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is lightly bubbling around the edges.
  8. Allow to cool completely, ideally for 2 hours, before cutting into squares. Store for up to 3 days at room temperature or 5 days in the refrigerator.
